Book Review: The Diary of Mattie Spenser
I love Sandra Dallas. I read a book of hers many years ago and never forgot it. I fell out of this genre and this book pulled me right back in again. Sandra Dallas writes of the women who won the west. Reading about the hardships, whether it was the hostile environment, terrible weather or cruel husbands, she writes of women's courage and strength that forged the foundation that built the west. Unsentimental, but with a rich voice of what life was like in the second half of the 19th century, Dallas embroiders a wonderful tapestry of the life on the plains for the brave women who built a life there.
Happy Reading!
