Be prepared to work hard...
"Watching kids react, or parents laugh at your joke, is pretty amazing, but I think, having my own grandson read to me the book that he inspired has to take first place."

A Family unravels
A well-written account of a family in turmoil. Life is a neatly wrapped package for the Butterfield family. A happy marriage with two daughters, one a highly successful lawyer and the younger pre-med. The future looks settled for the couple and their children in their well-ordered world, until the father returns from a business trip and finds a strange man in his bed. His world shattered, he divorces his wife, and the family slowly unravels, the skeins of their lives pooling into a giant puddle of despair. Like a game of dominoes, each member of the family's life is knocked out of whack, so that their plans dissolve, leaving them rudderless. This was a great depiction of the death throes of a family, the struggle to come to grips with their imploding world. The road twists, skewing judgement, allowing the accepted rules of behavior to warp. Each one is faced with their derailment, and Moriarty does a fantastic job by giving each character a different voice. Veronica is left to sink, her parents
wrapped up in their own disillusionment and pain, selfishly letting her flounder until common sense resurfaces. Both Veronica and her sister learn to see their parents as real people who's lives have taken a surprising turn. Astonishingly poignant, frighteningly real, this is a story about coping and learning to accept one's limitations by opening their eyes and being honest with themselves.

They flee a murderous uncle who would like to relieve the world of his presence.
Exciting and full of adventure, The Lost Heir is a captivating combination of Harry Potter meets Oliver Twist. Set in Victorian England, this thrilling story is about a mysterious orphan named Jake and his friends that roam the underbelly of London's notorious slums. Paired with a has-been "Guardian" knight, they flee a murderous uncle who would like to relieve the world of his presence. Monsters, fairies, sirens, and other memorable creatures pop up to enliven the tale. Foley's descriptive prose helps the reader see and smell the colorful London streets, hear the vendors and get a picture of life in the nineteenth century. Jake's paranormal powers pepper the story with humor and imagination making this a great read to share and enjoy, opening doors to lots of discussion.

Two Of The NABE Pinnacle Book Achievement Award Winners for Fall 2015!
It’s never too early to start teaching children about the world around them. In If You Were Me and Lived in…Greece , early learners get a taste of what their life would be like if they lived in Greece while being introduced to the birthplace of democracy. This book is the latest installment of the educational series about the cultures of the world that speaks to young children about the topics that interest them, such as the foods people eat, the names of boys and girls, and the activities that children their age living in a foreign land are likely to engage in. This exciting visit to Greece also introduces the important concept of democracy to children and highlights some of the other cultural contributions that Greece has made to Western civilization. Basic information is offered in a playful way that won’t overwhelm children.
It's business as usual on the Flying Dragon. Their mission is to find a flag for the ship. Captain No Beard sighs, "Being a captain is hard work," as he watches the busy crew preparing the vessel for their next adventure. Polly is giving out pretzels; Linus is polishing a lamp. Matie is cracking coconuts, Cayla is stuffing holes, and Hallie is swabbing the deck. High overhead, trouble is brewing, and it is not the weather. Mongo does not want any help from the newest crew member, and it is creating a hurricane of a mess on board. The team must come together and find a task that will fit Zachary without interfering with their own fun. On the way, they acquire a flag that will unite them as both friends and crew. Join the problem-solving crew of the Flying Dragon as they find a flag for their ship and a job for Zach.

Who doesn't love sparkles. This is a cute little book
Who doesn't love sparkles. This is a cute little book, sure to entertain the little girls. Ally Nathaniel has written a charming rhyming book about the shiny, sparkling delights that thrill little girls that like to dress up. Love the message, that both beauty and sparkle come from within.
